Oil Pulling Drops

Oil Pulling Drops

Oil pulling is not new.  It is an Indian folk remedy that has been used for thousands of years. If something has been used for that long it must work right? So I gave it a shot…

Here are some of the benefits oil pulling is, “supposedly” supposed to have –

  • Cure tooth decay
  • Heal bleeding gums
  • Kill bad breath
  • Whiten your teeth
  • Prevent cavities
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Heal acne

I didn't do it religiously. I would swish some in my mouth every morning for twenty minutes after drinking a glass of water. Then I brush as normal. I would do this every other day. Sometimes I would forget. You can use other oils but I choose coconut because it contains Lauric acid, which is well known for its anti-microbial agents.

Did it do anything for me? I would say yes. I don’t have the best mouth. I have had cavities all my life! My gums are definitely better. No more bleeding when I floss and less to almost no plaque. My teeth stay smooth all day…no weird fuzzy feeling on my teeth. As for preventing cavities or curing tooth decay, I suppose only time will tell. I had my husband do oil pulling after he saw the dentist. His gums were inflamed and red from all the dental work. After only two days it was gone. Yes he laughed at me in the beginning for sticking a spoon of oil in my mouth, and I don’t blame him. It sounds crazy!

If you want to give oil pulling a try, make these drops. It is so much easier in the morning. You just pop one in your mouth and swish away!

How to Make Oil Pulling Drops

What you will need –

  • Coconut oil ( I like trader joes but any organic coconut oil will do)
  • Spearmint oil ( you can use any oil you like…the possibilities are endless!)
  • Silicone mold ( I got mine here at Amazon )

Take your coconut oil and scoop out 12 tablespoons into a microwave safe glass or measuring cup for 30 seconds.

Stir oil until it becomes clear. Place your mold under a baking sheet and pour the oil halfway into each mold cup. (Baking sheet will make it easier to transfer to your fridge.)

Add 2 drops of spearmint oil, or oil of your choosing, to each mold cup.

Transfer to your fridge and let it set for 45 min. to an hour or until hard to the touch. They will pop out easily into these cute designs.

I keep mine in a candle jar that I cleaned out. If your house is warm like mine is, keep the jar in your fridge and pop one in every morning for 20 min. or longer.

Enjoy!
